An inspiring note from: Mackenzie Snyder, RVT

We are pleased to issue a tremendous “thank you” to Engler Engineering Company for their generous donation of a dental scaler and polisher valued at $2,395. This is something that will be a huge asset to our carnivores. This machine is used to clean tartar build up off their teeth; it is the same type of machine your vet would use on your animals. This gives us another way to provide more thorough health care for these special carnivores.

Q: Why do I not see wolves on the drive-through?

A: Our three species of wolves, part of our cheetahs, Black rhinos, and Attwater’s Prairie Chickens all reside in a special section of Fossil Rim known as the Intensive Management Area. This area is separate from the public drive-through and these animals are all in safe enclosures. Our wolves have 2 acres per pair to call home, plenty of room to run and hide when they desire.

We house three species of wolves at Fossil Rim: the Mexican Gray Wolf, the wolf of the American Southwest; the Red Wolf, the wolf of the American Southeast; and Maned Wolves from South America.

The only current possibility of viewing these animals is by taking one of our “Behind the Scenes” tours. On these you will be escorted by one of our trained guides who will inform you about some of our more secluded animals and our care of them.

Thank you for your support and for spending time with us today. Please forward Wildlife W@tch to your friends and relatives.

Thanks,
